(Not) Maple Syrup

If you – like me – are in awe of maple syrup – a big no-no for a diabetic – then I have good news for you. I found a maple syrup replacement made with MONK FRUIT extract and erythritol. Albeit vaguely fruity and not quite 100% like maple syrup, “just”close, it is delicious! It works nicely with pancakes (made with buckwheat) and baked apples (so far).

Apparently, you can also make your own maple syrup replacement using the recipe in this web-page: http://www.wholesomeyum.com/recipes/sugar-free-maple-syrup/

For this latter, you need the natural maple extract which I am still looking for/ trying to decide (imitation maple extract is more ubiquitous). Online suppliers include:

If you have a good brand/ supplier you know about, then please share in the comments section.

As always, I am sharing what I do, but you – my reader – please do your own research and make your own decisions in regards to what you prefer to eat as a diabetic.  In any case, try to avoid options with artificial ingredients – more on this subject at https://perfectketo.com/keto-syrups-for-pancakes/

Good luck to All and keep your glucose levels down!

You are right, it’s not everywhere, but you can find it on Amazon. Give me a shout please if you see it in health-food stores in your part of the world. And please write a post of your own as well, I love the way you go around a subject 🙂
